Mary Shaw - Co-creator (Author): knows
a thing or two about hockey - her husband is former professional hockey
player, now turned coach, Brad Shaw. Mary and her family have lived in
Waterloo, Italy, Hartford, Ottawa, Detroit, Cincinnati, and Tampa. They
call Kanata, Ontario 'home'.
Mary is the mother of three
children - Taylore, Brady, and Caroline. She credits them for getting
her into writing children's books. "They help get my imagination
rolling," she says. Her son, an avid hockey player himself, was the
inspiration for Brady Brady. Her oldest daughter is the inspiration for
Icehogs defenseman, Tes - the 'Twirlin' Torpedo'. Brady Brady and the
Great Rink was Mary's first book and more have followed in the Brady
Brady series. In addition to her writing career, Mary is a sports fan
and an active volunteer, spending time at her children's school, where
the kids call her 'Mrs. Brady Brady'.

Chuck Temple - Co-creator (Illustrator):
began his career at the age of 18 when his first comic strip, "Bernie
on the Beat" went into syndication. At the time he was one of the
youngest syndicated cartoonists in the world. Chuck also teamed up with
Rick Broadhead, a best-selling author and internet consultant, to
develop the comic feature, E-trivia, which was accepted for syndication
by United Media in New York. Along with David Chilton, Chuck created
The Wealthy Barber calendar, which sold over 2.5 million copies. Chuck
has a degree in fine art from The University of Guelph and has studied
at the Ontario College of Art. His favourite cartoonist and creative
inspiration comes from Bill Watterson, creator of Calvin and Hobbes.
In
a unique combination of pen and mouse, his work embraces the latest
technology and software to bring Brady Brady and other creations to
life. All cartoons are produced digitally in
Photoshop/Illustrator/Streamline on a Mac platform. Chuck
continues to develop the Brady Brady series. He also enjoys coaching
and playing hockey. |
